Everybody loves a little quote now and then… even though you cannot admit it all the time – even those who are cynical about it – a positive quote, if it is relevent to you makes you smile, even if you don’t show it on the outside, you are smiling on the inside. Thats the thing, not many realises how amazing one little bit of positivity a day could make an impact on your day. That might not be massive things, it could purely be, someone holding the door open for you, someone saying thank you, making an impact on someones day. Have you ever taken a moment and thought, what impact do I have on other people? When was the last time you told someone you loved them? When was the last time you walked up to a total stranger and admired them for what they were wearing? When was the last time you held a door open for someone? When was the last time someone infront of you dropped something and you picked it up and chased them to let them know they had dropped it? You get the jist… If you haven’t done at least one of these things this week think about these in reverse… how does it make YOU feel when someone does these for you? Also how does it make YOU feel when someone doesn’t?
When you have lost your phone and no body hands it in and its lost for good. If someone can see you coming towards a door and lets it slam so you need to open it again.
I remember once while running for a train in Edinburgh Waverly station and I slipped and went hell for leather case flying one way, body another…. nobody stopped to help… infact 2 people stepped over me as if I was a piece of trash on the street…. I remember feeling mortified! I could not believe that had happened – and it was incredibly sore! I felt embarassed and ashamed, I got off and walked it off… but from now WHENEVER I see anyone in a similar situation I am the first person to check they are okay, help them back up and let them know that it happens to everyone. Flip reverse to another situation: In January this year while out running, a road bike hit me direct on my knee cap while coming round a corner in the pedestrian lane. After rolling around on the floor for 5 minutes I got up and thought, “hey im indestructible I will be okay.” As I went to jog on I quickly realised that something was not right. At the moment I burst into tears – alone, soaking wet cause it was raining and in extreme pain. Then a jogger, just a random guy in the street comes past. He runs past then comes back to ask if I was okay… he did not need to do this but he did. When he saw my distress he went on to help me walk to the nearest seating area. Told me to wait and he would run to get his car and take me to a&e. He did not need to do this, but how did that make me feel? It gave me hope that there was still kindness and generosity in the world, and I was and will be eternally grateful for this as I was in no frame of mind to make any decisions.
It is little acts of positivity and kindness that keep that hope that there is kindness in the world. Spread positivity and kindness today and add a spark of happiness to someones day. You never know what positive impact that may have on them – do one act of kindness a day to help spread positivity! You never know when you will recieve a positive act in your return ❤
